Inquiring minds want to know: Why is town meeting so contentious? What is the basic problem?

My view from the gym floor: Your town officials are not there to gain the benefit of your input and insight. They preside to push their programs past you. They are the home team, you are the visiting taxpayers. The home court advantage is theirs.
