Nearly all the curious souls on the Secret Garden Tour wanted to
know about the seven-story stone tower in Patrick Miehe's back yard.
Most had already seen their fill of trees and plants. But the 78-
foot-tall World War II naval lookout post atop Point Allerton was
something special and mysterious. And this crowd of straw-hat-
wearing garden growers had questions.
A sampling:
"Is that your tower?"
"Yes."
"Do you live in it?"
"I wish I did, but my wife makes me live in the house."
Miehe's garden - a carefully crafted collage of cherry trees,
showy green rhododendrons and purplish Joe Pye weed that he and his
wife, Maureen, assembled over seven years - was a favorite ...
