RANDOLPH - A smoky fire in a resident's room at the Hollywell nursing home sent three people to the hospital early this morning.

Firefighters, police officers and nursing home workers moved 29 residents out of the wing where the fire took place to another section of the 975 N. Main St. facility, Fire Chief Charles Foley said.

All were evaluated by emergency medical technicians at the scene "to make sure they're OK," Foley said. Two unidentified residents were taken to hospitals for injuries believed to be smoke-related.

Police officer Nicole Dickerson was taken to Milton Hospital where she was treated and released for smoke inhalation.
