The character played by Gene Hackman in the movie, "Run Away
Jury," closes a shady deal and orders a wire transfer of millions to
an off shore account in the Cayman Islands. Hackman gets elegantly
double-crossed, exits the film a ruined man, and the millions,
presumably, go on gathering interest in Grand Cayman. About an hour's
flight from Miami and 150 miles south of Cuba, the Cayman Islands
(Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman) are a staple of novels
and movies where characters and corporate tycoons seek shelter for
their cash. But that's a deceiving image. True, the islands have no
