Article: Selectmen to vote on putting tax question on ballot; Vote would most likely come after town meeting

Randolph selectmen are preparing for a vote on placing a Proposition 2 1/2 override question before voters.

The vote will most likely wait until after town meeting acts on a proposed budget. Town meeting begins May 22.

The finance committee is making its budget recommendations and is considering having town meeting prepare two possible budgets: one based on current revenues and the other depending on additional revenues, such as that from an override.

Executive Secretary Michael Carroll told selectmen last night that any proposed override question must include the amount being sought and how it will be spent "so the voters can control the increase in the tax levy."
