Article: Proposed site of new senior center dicey; Consultant agrees it's a vernal pool; building committee seeks clarity

It's not good news, but it's not bad news.

A report completed by an independent consultant from the Carr Research Laboratory concurs that there are indeed five masses of wood frog eggs in a pool of water on the proposed site of Kingston's new senior center behind town hall.

It remains to be seen whether the presence of the eggs, which makes the pool a vernal pool, means the center will have to be built elsewhere.

Building committee Chairman Paul Gallagher said he received the report Wednesday.

"He did not say the site was not workable," Gallagher said. "But he didn't say it was workable, either."
