Minor league umpires are headed back to work after a strike that
lasted nearly two months.
Members of the Association of Minor League Umpires voted over the
holiday weekend to accept a contract that will last through 2011,
according to a statement from Major League Baseball.
"We are happy to have reached a deal that will assure labor peace
with our umpires through the 2011 season," Pat O'Conner, a vice
president with minor league baseball, said in a statement. "We look
forward to continuing another great season of baseball without the
distraction of a strike."
Union members had soundly rejected a previous offer on May 1.
