By nearly any yardstick, he is an achiever.
At 15, Jay Wilder is thriving on a full load of honors courses at
Seneca Valley High School, serves as president of his freshman class,
is active at church, runs track and has no doubts about moving on to
college when he graduates.
"I want to be a medical researcher," says the confident,
bespectacled Montgomery County youth.
At the top of his class, Jay is busting the stereotypical image of
floundering African American teenagers. "I think instead of making a
fad of wearing pants down to your knees, we should make a fad of
doing well in school," he said.
