RANDOLPH - Members of the finance committee have doubts about a
plan to move town meeting to March.
Finance committee Chairman Arthur Goldstein sees the biggest
problem as "getting information from various departments to the
finance committee on a timely basis," which hasn't been the case in
the past.
"I personally don't think we have enough time to do our work,"
Goldstein said.
Under the plan, town meeting would begin March 12 so the town's
budget would be acted upon before the town election on March 27.
Officials feel a proposed tax increase would have a better chance of
passing if it's on the annual election ballot, when voters go to the
polls to elect town officials.
