Article: FINDING A HOME IN REAL ESTATE Former sportswriter discovered his type was better served selling houses

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS

Jack Conway loved being a sportswriter. He still gets animated when he talks about his days sitting at ringside with his Smith Corona typewriter, covering Rocky Marciano.

But he gave it up in 1954, convinced there was a better way to support a family, and never looked back.

On Oct. 12, 1956, he opened a one-man real estate office on South Street in Hingham.

Fifty years later, Conway Realty is New England's largest independent real estate brokerage, with 45 offices and more than 900 employees and agents.
