Bill Frisell likes to change directions. A lot.His ability to draw country, rock, bluegrass, soul, electronica, psychedelia and a slew of other genres into a guitar-jazz framework - all with equal passion and intense curiosity - has made his very surname something of an adjective.

He's a legend of jazz guitar for a reason, as much for his characteristically ambient, swelling tone as his richly varied compositional preferences. But to qualify him as merely a jazz guitarist would be woefully confining.
