MILTON - Lack of snow and now a lack of insurance has kept the slopes at the Blue Hills Ski Area closed so far this season, leaving many area high school ski teams with no place to practice or compete.

The ski area was making snow today and coupled with a dusting overnight the ski area is poised to open once the insurance problem is resolved, the operators said.

Blue Hills' operator, New Hampshire's Ragged Mountain Resort, lost its liability insurance on the Blue Hills Ski Area earlier this month.
