BOSTON - Just when it seemed they would never play the sort of game expected, the Boston Bruins did so last night.

Too bad, but given the circumstances, not too surprising.

The Bruins, already in a dry spell in terms of production, had to face a team coached by a defensive genius. They had to face that team without their top goal-scorer, along with another winger who plays on their first line.

And they lost to Jacques Lemaire's Minnesota Wild, 2-1.

The game wasn't entirely predictable.
