Article: It's D-Day for health insurance Starting Sunday, everyone 'must' have coverage, though deadline is really Dec. 1

STOUGHTON - Dennis Cormier, a 57-year-old Stoughton father of two boys, was facing a huge increase in his health insurance premiums on July 1, when the health coverage he received from a former employer was about to expire.

It would have cost him $2,000 a month, or $800 more than he had been paying, to enroll in an identical plan.

While his health is good and he stays in shape, Cormier had a heart attack in 1991. With a wife, a son in high school and another in college, he knew he couldn't let his coverage lapse. He also didn't want to leave a new job he enjoys just because the small company doesn't offer health coverage.
