Article: Bonner makes the cut Concord grad earns spot on NBA's Raptors

Toronto Raptors General Manager Rob Babcock called Matt Bonner into his office yesterday morning and asked the Concord High graduate if he wanted a job.

"I was like, 'Heck yeah, I do,'"was Bonner's response, relayed by phone yesterday. "He (Babcock) said, 'You've worked hard and played well, so you've earned a spot on this team.'"

And with that, the 6-foot-10 power forward will become the first New Hampshire native to play in the NBA in nearly 20 years when Toronto opens the season tomorrow at home against the Houston Rockets.

Portsmouth's Jeff Cross, drafted out of the University of Maine, played 21 games for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 1985-86 season.
