TORONTO - Forget the final score, which says the Toronto Raptors
beat the Atlanta Hawks in overtime last night, 109-101.
The important thing to note is that Concord's Matt Bonner,
Toronto's 6-foot-10 reserve forward, is playing for a bad team that
needs help. The Raptors are 11th among the 15 Eastern Conference
teams. The top eight make the playoffs. One more loss, and the
Raptors are eliminated.
Still, Bonner, a restricted free agent after the season, wants to
stay, as long as the price is right. He figures to sign a seven-
figure deal this summer.
Bonner loves the city, loves the fans and loves the head coach,
Sam Mitchell. He wants to be in Toronto when - and if - the Raptors
turn things ...
