Standing in a local pick-your-own field with the sun on your back, hunting for the ripest berries and popping a few of the warm, sweet morsels into your mouth is a seasonal rite of passage for food lovers. And the effort reaps significant rewards.

According to Erica Schultze, a registered dietitian at Concord Hospital's Center for Health Promotion, these little berries pack a healthy punch when it comes to fighting disease.
