Article: Oscar J. Auger; Helped liberate France in World War II

ALLENSTOWN -- Oscar J. Auger, 86, a longtime Allenstown resident, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton.

Born on April 4, 1920, in Manchester, Mr. Auger was the son of Victor and Elodie (Houle) Auger. He spent most of his life in Allenstown, moving to the New Hampshire Veterans Home eight years ago.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Pembroke Boats and later worked part time for the Concord Hospital.

A World War II Army veteran, he saw duty in the European Theater. Mr. Auger was one of the veterans from the New Hampshire Veterans Home to be recognized by the people of France for service in the liberation of France, which began with the Normandy ...
