Article: Robert G. Crooker Sr. Lifelong Hillsboro resident, medaled WWII veteran

HILLSBORO -- Robert G. Crooker Sr., 83, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association's Hospice House.

He was a lifelong resident of Hillsboro, the son of the late Andrew J. and Lizzie (Travis) Crooker. He was also predeceased by his wife, Jacquelyn H. (Miner) Crooker, who died in April 2006.

He was a graduate of Hillsboro-Deering High School, class of 1941, and he attended CMTC-Camp-Portland, Maine. He joined the Army in 1942 and was a medic and ambulance driver and received the Good Conduct and Victory Medals during the European Theater.

He worked for Fox Forest and Hillsboro Cleaners for 15 years, then joined Hillsboro-Deering Co-op School for 24 ...
