Article: Ex-prosecutor must pay Judicial Council; He will refund $13,000 for unresolved cases

A former county prosecutor who was sued by the state Judicial Council for taking money for court-appointed cases he didn't resolve has agreed to pay back his debt for a second time.

Robert Bennett, who quit his job with the Merrimack County Attorney's Office in April after learning of the lawsuit, will pay back $13,187 to the state Judicial Council. He will pay $500 each month between now and January 2009, according to court records. His final payment of $187 will be due in February 2009.

Bennett, who now lives in Las Vegas and is seeking work as a substitute teacher, made his first payment this month, said David Hilts of the state attorney general's office.
