We've heard the cliche about rites of passage and kids being kids.
But when there's a significant safety issue involved - such as
racing cars on county roads - there's also a responsibility to the
kids and the public to try to do something about it.
Local police departments and the Yakima County Sheriff's office
are doing just that: A crackdown is in force and there is zero
tolerance for those caught breaking the law.
It won't be easy, but racers should not underestimate the long arm
of the law.
We're not among those who just tumbled from the turnip truck; we
realize that racing cars for some in the young set is one of those
things that is way cool. And when something is elevated to that ...
