You might call it the world's longest scenic cruise, except, of
course, that Saturday's second annual Yakima River Canyon Marathon
must be cruised on foot or wheelchair, and that most cruises - at
least, the kind you pay for - go a lot further than this.
But scenic? It's all of that.
For marathoners used to running one or more circuits of a route
between skyscrapers of some landlocked city, the Yakima River Canyon
Marathon is 26.2 miles of fresh air.
"This is one of the prettiest marathons," said Jose Nebrida of
Chicago, whose more than 100 completed marathons include last year's
