Article: Judge to Decide on Methow Valley Irrigation

SPOKANE - A federal judge on Thursday asked Methow Valley irrigators and federal agencies to work out their differences over salmon recovery measures before today, when he rescheduled a hearing to decide whether irrigators can start watering.

U.S. District Court Judge Fred Van Sickle of Spokane said it appears that the Methow Valley Irrigation District and the National Marine Fisheries Service had tried to work out a new agreement to ensure the irrigation system doesn't kill endangered spring chinook salmon and steelhead.
