Article: Election 2002 -- City Attorney Roy Says District Court Ready for a Change

Kevin Roy says he's trying to oust incumbent District Court Judge Dirk Marler for two reasons.

First, Roy likes being a judge, something he has done as a temporary replacement several times. Second, and probably more to the point, Roy doesn't like how Marler does his job.

"I think that getting a new judge into that position would benefit the District Court," Roy said. "I do believe that elected officials can be in their job too long."

Accused of mudslinging by his opponent, Roy remains unapologetic, maintaining that it's time for the 14-year veteran to find another job.
