Alexandria skipper locks up fifth title of year
West River Sailing Club member Barney Harris completed a clean
sweep of all the major Albacore regattas by capturing the
International Championship, held last week on the Chesapeake Bay.
Harris, a resident of Alexandria, Va., notched four bullets and a
pair of seconds in seven races in posting a low score of eight
points. Harris, who had longtime crew member David Byron aboard,
finished 15 points ahead of the United Kingdom entry of Chris Turner
and Simon Maguire.
Harris is a 20-year veteran of the Albacore class and has
captured just about every major championship. This has been a
