The first steps in automatic fire aid cooperation between South Charleston and Charleston have so far caused anger, frustration, confusion, disappointment and doubt.

But that doesn't mean officials from both cities are ready to call it quits just yet.

South Charleston City Council recently canceled parts of an automatic aid agreement, which would have instantly dispatched both Charleston and South Charleston fire crews to residential neighborhoods around Corridor G and businesses in the Southridge area.

Under the altered agreement, both departments now automatically respond to fires at businesses in the Southridge Centre, Dudley Farms and Trace Fork areas, but not to fires ...
