A tremendous revolution is taking place in medicine.
Unfortunately, the health care payment system is missing it.
Thanks to scientific advances, we have learned that the brain
functions like any other organ of the body. It must be fed, exercised
and cared for, and, like any other part of the body, the brain can
become ill. It can also be treated and made well again.
Unfortunately, getting treatment is not easy. Many insurers don't
cover mental health care or they impose restrictions that would never
be imposed on other illnesses.
The Legislature is considering a bill requiring insurers to
provide the same benefits for mental health care available for other
illnesses.
