State and local law enforcement officials liked Gov. Bob Wise's
emphasis on public safety.
Especially pleased was State Police Superintendent Howard Hill,
who said one proposal would address a "downward swing" in the
strength of the State Police force.
In his State of the State address Wednesday, Wise said, "The first
priority of government must be to protect the public safety."
Several public safety officials said they are pleased with his
efforts to assist them by funding additional classes of troopers,
funding the building of National Guard armories or lowering the blood-
alcohol level that determines whether a driver is legally drunk.
