Watt Powell Park is the alternate site for a proposed new Alley
Cats stadium, officials said.
That could mean the $23 million project could face problems if the
preferred East End site comes through, but Mayor Jay Goldman is
confident the Watt Powell site could work also.
"Everybody likes the East End, and that's what we're pursuing,"
Goldman said. "At the same time, if we continue to get all these
little hiccups along the way, we want to be prepared with a good plan
and we think we've got it."
Goldman and City Manager Sherry Risk have talked about an unnamed
second site for some time as a backup if the Plaza East site is
deemed unfeasible for some reason.
