By recent standards, the 2002 Charleston Alley Cats are their typical selves.

Tuesday night's 2-1 loss to the Columbus RedStixx at Watt Powell Park closed the home portion of the Alley Cats' first half of this season. The defeat left Charleston at 22-43 with five games - four full and one suspended - left at Delmarva before the South Atlantic League's All-Star break.

Charleston's dismal record means it will finish last in the Northern Division for the sixth time in the last nine half-seasons. The Alley Cats have not produced a winning record in any of those. Their overall record in the run that includes this season is 231- 386.
