Article: Alley Cats have second half feeling: Charleston, 1-0, over .500 for first time this season

After four and a half years of losing baseball, things are suddenly looking good for the Charleston Alley Cats.

The road seems paved for a new downtown ballpark.

The Cats showed marked improvement in finishing the first half of the season with eight wins in their last 15 games after a dismal 7- 23 start.

And on Thursday night, Charleston continued its improved play with an 11-1 shellacking of the Kannapolis Intimidators in the opening game of the South Atlantic League's second half.

A crowd of 2,253 watched at muggy Watt Powell Park, as the Cats moved to 1-0 and out of last place for the first time this season.
