Article: I'll stick with the Dream Team

IT would be a nightmarish mistake to break up the Dream Team.

Thankfully, it won't happen.

At a meeting of the international basketball federation this week in Rome, NBA Deputy Commissioner Russ Granik announced that the Dream Team will still be composed almost entirely of pro players for the 1998 world championships in Greece and the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

That's good news.

The Olympics are for the world's best athletes, regardless of whether they are pros or amateurs.

And the Dream Team should be a source of enormous pride for Americans.

The Dreamers have proven resoundingly that U.S. basketball is the best on the planet.
