An Internet business column has ranked West Virginia as 42nd on
its list of the best and worst states to run a small business.
Several state business leaders acknowledge the state has its
shortcomings, but they don't believe the picture is as gloomy as it's
portrayed in the rankings.
"West Virginia is a great place to do business," said Michael
Murray, West Virginia district director for the U.S. Small Business
Administration.
Published recently on Microsoft bCentral's Web page, the list
ranked states' small business climates on the basis of taxes,
electricity cost, workers' compensation costs, total crime rate,
right-to-work laws, the number of bureaucrats and the state ...
