Article: Officials dispute state's ranking on Web site: West Virginia ranked 42nd for small businesses

An Internet business column has ranked West Virginia as 42nd on its list of the best and worst states to run a small business.

Several state business leaders acknowledge the state has its shortcomings, but they don't believe the picture is as gloomy as it's portrayed in the rankings.

"West Virginia is a great place to do business," said Michael Murray, West Virginia district director for the U.S. Small Business Administration.
