Ripley High's football postseason doesn't officially begin until Saturday.

But the folks in Ripley couldn't wait that long.

The playoff atmosphere in Jackson County started Thursday night, as hundreds of fans gathered in Ripley for a good, old-fashioned pep rally.

And those who weren't celebrating, were busy tidying the Vikings' home field in preparation for Saturday's 1:30 p.m. Class AAA matchup between No. 5 Ripley (9-1) and No. 12 Buckhannon-Upshur (7-3).

"The whole town was there," said Ripley Coach Frank Marino. "This is the greatest town in America. It was incredible.

"First of all they fed the kids," continued Marino.
