Article: Flood task force could grow, Senators seeking to add members to proposed panel

A flood prevention task force set up by a House bill would expand by three members as a result of jockeying among members of the Senate Finance Committee.

Sen. Karen Facemyer, whose family is in the lumber business in Ripley, got the committee on Tuesday to approve an amendment that would add a position to the 10 already on the task force for a representative of the West Virginia Forestry Association, although the state Division of Forestry already had one of the positions.

That came after Sen. Ed Bowman, D-Hancock, got the committee to designate one of the 10 positions already on the task force for a county commissioner.
