A flood prevention task force set up by a House bill would expand
by three members as a result of jockeying among members of the Senate
Finance Committee.
Sen. Karen Facemyer, whose family is in the lumber business in
Ripley, got the committee on Tuesday to approve an amendment that
would add a position to the 10 already on the task force for a
representative of the West Virginia Forestry Association, although
the state Division of Forestry already had one of the positions.
That came after Sen. Ed Bowman, D-Hancock, got the committee to
designate one of the 10 positions already on the task force for a
county commissioner.
