CHRIS Smith's slogan says it all: "Together, We can make
Charleston better."
The operative word for Smith is "together."
A former City Council member and current city treasurer, Smith has
built his career on his ability to work well with others - first on
local high school hardwoods and then in chemical plants in four
different states, an industry in which he toiled for 34 years.
Now, Smith, 63, is taking that same theme and applying it to his
most daunting task: trying to become Charleston's next mayor.
A Charleston native, Smith has campaigned tirelessly on a single,
simple theme: teamwork.
