OAKLAND, Calif. - They came back to Raider Nation full of
confidence that this year would be different. With 62,207 watching in
what can only be described as a penitentiary atmosphere, the New York
Jets saw their season end in a way that didn't seem consistent with
the journey.
Their unflappable, nearly flawless quarterback became human again.
Their defense contained Jerry Rice and Tim Brown but couldn't handle
Jerry Porter and got duped by wily veteran Rich Gannon.
After weathering a 1-4 start and reviving their season with a
dramatic run to the playoffs, the Jets were 30 minutes from the AFC
