Five minutes.

That's what the entire Marshall vs. West Virginia University game came down to Wednesday at the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum.

The last five minutes.

After 35 minutes of close basketball that was more competitive than pretty, this game was decided during the final five minutes.

And Marshall came up two minutes short.

The Mountaineers out-shot, out-played and, mostly, out-executed the Herd down the stretch to claim a 65-61 win before a near- capacity crowd of 11, 981.

But going into the last five minutes it was Marshall's game to lose.
