Article: Clay Center delayed: Symphony, Sunrise left in limbo

In a stunning change of course, the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences is delaying its opening, officials said today.

A handful of Clay Center planners met behind closed doors this morning and decided to postpone opening the $86 million facility, which they had planned to debut on Feb. 19, several Clay Center donors said.

Clay Center officials spent much of the morning calling key supporters to inform them that the opening has been pushed back. They did not provide a timetable, although one official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it will be at least May until the facility opens.

The reason for the setback wasn't immediately available.
