The more than 500 e-mails exchanged between Gov. Bob Wise and West
Virginia Development Office employee Angela Mascia-Frye not only
reveal a friendly relationship that got friendlier as time went on,
they open a window into the personality of the state's top elected
official.
The governor's wry sense of humor and self-deprecating sarcasm
shines through in many of the e-mails to a woman whose husband says
was cheating on him with Wise.
Sometimes, Mascia-Frye doesn't pick up on the joke and a
misunderstanding ensues.
In a Jan. 11 e-mail, Wise reassures Mascia-Frye that he wasn't
being edgy, he was trying to be humorous.
