Lincoln County forfeited its rights: 'Thorough and efficient' schools are not optional

I wish I could join the outraged parents in Lincoln County who don't want to consolidate their four high schools into one new school.

But I can't. In fact, it appears to me that the folks in Lincoln County gave up their right to determine the future of education in their county years ago.

I'm no fan of school consolidation. In fact, most of America is turning away from consolidated schools that often become warehouses where kids get lost and feel abandoned too easily.

If the current four Lincoln County high schools were effective, there'd be a reason to protest the planned consolidation. But the fact the state had to take over the entire county school system is proof positive that most of ...
