SAN DIEGO - Nearly 30 years after bringing his brand of fowl humor to the major leagues, the San Diego Chicken gets one last chance to scratch around his original roost.

With the Padres vacating Qualcomm Stadium after this season for a new downtown ballpark, they figured the final weekend was a good time to bring back the Chicken, who's as much a San Diego institution as Tony Gwynn, the beach and fish tacos.

The Chicken's final gig at Qualcomm Stadium, where he was hatched in 1974, will be tonight, when he'll also be honored with a Chicken bobblehead giveaway.
