The Charleston Civic Center is moving ahead with plans to become
the next public space to name itself, or parts of itself, after a
corporate sponsor looking for extra exposure.
Already there is a Los Angeles arena named after an office supply
store, an Illinois high school stadium that pays tribute to a paint
manufacturer and, of course, two civic centers in West Virginia now
named after a furniture store and a bank.
Officials at Charleston's Civic Center are in the process of
hiring a firm to evaluate how much the place would be worth to a
business that has its name attached.
Naming rights for the whole Civic Center soon might be up for
sale, or just certain sections such as the Little ...
