Article: Civic Center name may be sold, Business may put its name on part or all of city facility

The Charleston Civic Center is moving ahead with plans to become the next public space to name itself, or parts of itself, after a corporate sponsor looking for extra exposure.

Already there is a Los Angeles arena named after an office supply store, an Illinois high school stadium that pays tribute to a paint manufacturer and, of course, two civic centers in West Virginia now named after a furniture store and a bank.

Officials at Charleston's Civic Center are in the process of hiring a firm to evaluate how much the place would be worth to a business that has its name attached.
