Article: McDowell County voters renew school levy

WELCH - McDowell County voters showed overwhelming support for a school levy over the weekend.

Of Saturday's votes, 1,246 were in favor of renewing a five-year levy, while 125 were against it.

"I feel great," Mark Manchin superintendent for McDowell County Schools said. "It goes to show that the majority of people support education in this county."

The McDowell County school levy, which provides funding for textbooks and instructional supplies, has been in existence since 1937.
