Article: WVU students investigate forensic evidence: Mock crime scene in old house offers hands-on training

MORGANTOWN - In the corner of the damp, dark basement, the Pioneer widescreen television connects to cameras catching mischief throughout the red brick house. Unfortunately, the crime scene investigators assigned to this beat cannot use them. They are college students.

While most university students are sleeping off Friday night, members of Mark Neal and Richard Ingram's Forensic Mock Crime Scene class reported to their classroom - the basement - at 10 a.m. on a recent Saturday.

Ingram, the assistant chief of detectives for the city of Charleston, worked with crime scenes for 13 years. Neal is a lieutenant with the West Virginia State Police.
