Hundreds of people supported Joanna Mills when she helped lead Summers County High School to the quarterfinals of the Class AA girls high school basketball state tournament.

Now hundreds are supporting her through a more important fight.

Joanna has been hospitalized at Charleston Area Medical Center's General Division since Thursday after she and her twin sister, Jessica, pulled their vehicle onto W.Va. 3 and were struck broadside by another vehicle, Summers County Sheriff Garry Wheeler said.

Family members said Jessica had minor injuries and was treated and released, but they said the two-vehicle accident left Joanna, a first- time All State basketball player, with serious injuries.
