Twice a year, the Washington Design Center invites
professionals to attend seminars on interior design and view the
latest fabrics and furnishings in its trade-only showrooms. Now, the
public at large is being invited to an open house of its own.
On March 14 the design center will open its doors for a day of
"education and information," according to Sian Imber, the design
center's director of marketing. Visitors will be able to attend
panel discussions on decorating and explore the 50 showrooms that
sell residential furnishings. Although the design center is not
promoting the idea, consumers may be able to make purchases at a few
showrooms.
