Watt Powell Park has never been considered a hitter friendly baseball stadium.

Over the years, many opponents of Charleston's minor league teams, and even some of the Charleston players, have complained that the field's dimensions are too large and hitting crowd-pleasing home runs is too difficult.

First-year Alley Cat Manager Ken Joyce was well aware of Watt Powell's reputation when he arrived here this season.

"I guess people lied to me during spring training," Joyce joked. "They told me we wouldn't be able to hit home runs here. But balls are flying out of here."
