As time moves toward summer, our yearning for stew and pot roast
passes and we begin to focus on salads, grilled foods and generally
lighter fare.
But we don't change our thinking when it comes to dessert.
Chocolate cake is welcome whatever the weather. Ditto ice cream
and apple pie. Yet, in May, when you're not yet accustomed to the
heat, a delicate dessert might be a surprise blessing; one you can
continue to count on throughout the summer.
Most people have never tasted buttermilk pie, but this confection
