Article: Fayette man gets life sentence for fatal shooting: Oak Hill man already serving life sentence for being a habitual criminal

FAYETTEVILLE - A Fayette County man who already is serving a life sentence for being a habitual criminal has received another life sentence, with no chance of parole, for killing a man outside a bar.

Fayette County Circuit Judge John Hatcher asked Thomas Menei of Oak Hill where he went astray during Monday's sentencing.

"In considering all the evidence throughout the trial, (the court) wondered . . . what went wrong and when did it go wrong for you, Mr. Menei, a young man who comes from a family who has always been a law- abiding family in the county?" Hatcher said.

"They've all worked hard and done good, and one just wonders what happened, what went wrong."

Menei did not address the court. ...
